In addition, the detection circuit of the incandescent lamp sensor is usually very simple, so that an extremely fast response speed can be obtained. However, incandescent lamps do not allow vibration and prolonged use, so they are not suitable for applications with severe shock and vibration.
A color-coded sensor that uses a monochromatic light source (i.e., a green or red LED) is not a color-detecting principle in its principle. It detects by detecting the difference in the amount of reflection or absorption of the light beam from the surrounding material. Therefore, the color is identified strictly corresponding to the spectral components that are illuminated on the target.
Among the monochromatic light sources, the green LED (565 mm) and the red LED (660 mm) each have their own length. Green LEDs have a longer life than incandescent lamps and are more sensitive than red light sources over a wide range of colors. The red LED responds to a limited color combination, but its detection distance is farther than the green LED. Usually, the detection distance of the red light source sensor is 6-8 times that of the green light source sensor.
